Nearly There

After 3 months of rehearsals, there's now only 4 more sleeps until The Literatti put One Foot Forward on the theatre stage at The Lady Fisher Auditorium. Tickets are selling fast, so get yours today from Real Groovy to ensure there's a seat for you! You can also buy tickets from the Literartists in person at Poetry Live tonight from 8 pm at the Classic Studio on Queen St.

One Foot Forward finds The Literatti teaming up with live band Just the Tikit and guest musician Karen Hunter to deliver a delectable array of spoken word infused with live dub-jazz-rock-electro-acoustic-circus backbeats set to stunning still and moving visual images by artists Darcy Gladwin, Erin Gaffney and Kate Barton. Movement and other elements of theatre are combined with Def Jam-inspired performance poetry aspects and The Literatti's signature multiple-person performances to create a series of interwoven, but very different experiences of life and overcoming in poetic form.

One Foot Forward will be opened by Snapshots, a Literatti-student collaboration that began in September. Twenty seven 14-year old EGGS students present a 20 minute performance poetry show designed by them in collaboration with The Literatti. Snapshots sees these girls giving volume, movement and expression to their own voices, communicating a series of snapshots of their views on identity, culture and life/death, at times fusing up to 15 voices in the performance of a single piece.

The Lady Fisher Auditorium can be found in the Raye Freedman Arts Centre on the corner of Gillies Ave and Silver Rd in Epsom, right next door to Epsom Girls' Grammar School.

Doors open at 7 pm on Saturday, November 1st. Be there, or be somewhere else much less awesome.
